Augh! Geoff is unexpectedly grading for his 3rd dan in kobudo this Sunday! Without any time to prepare! And it means he's gone six days in a row this week!

(Translation for people who aren't dojo-wives- Geoff has been asked by his sensei to do a 3rd degree black belt grading in Japanese ancient weapons. Usually you find out you're grading months in advance, and prepare rigourously. Geoff has five days).

I'm hijacking this post, I guess, but I was trying to figure out how to respond to you comment on "Permission to Live" without hijacking her post. (-;
I just wanted to tell you that my former boss was diagnosed with diabetes as a child. We lost him last year, but he was 61 years old and diabetes treatments have come a long way since he was a child. He was possibly the most wonderful person I've ever met, touched so many lives, and accomplished some very great things. I understand that the every day dealing with this disease, especially with a child, is not easy, but somehow I hope this comment may encourage you in some way.

Thank you. It does. I know that we're very blessed to live now, when there are very good treatments, and his prognosis for a long life is good. I didn't mean to whine, I just wanted to fight back against the horrible and smug assumption that bad things only happen to people who deserve them. Less suffering= less personal holiness is such a disgusting and self-righteous assumtion.

Err, not that Young Mom believes anything like that.
