Up late last night, Elizabeth with coughing fits on and off, everything dirty even though I cleaned it. Acedia, sloth, and me.
As part of my resolutely Full of Veg plan we had scalloped potatoes, sweet potatoes, and cabbage, with bacon on top. It was very good and the kids ate some of it. The secret (I think) to scalloped potatoes it to cook them for an unreasonably long time. I also (as per a Tamar Adler recipe) made kale stem pesto by boiling kale stems until they smushed, and then pureeing them with garlic, lemon, salt, and olive oil. We had it on toast with parmesan and it was also eaten without complaint.
Today is making popcorn chains and watching sadly as Thomas takes down all the Christmas ornaments and kills them.
