Wait until you discover Call the Midwife.
I've seen the first two episodes of Call the Midwife and really liked it, although I have a problem with shows that have mothers or babies being hurt. I really like the cast. We're sort of in the middle of very slowly watching Game of Thrones and Call the Midwife, and Geoff's been working through the whole of Star Trek. We're also supposed to watch The Wire and finish Buffy, which we never did.
Downton Abbey is ridiculously melodramatic and makes just the barest attempt at actual historical accuracy and plausibility... but damned if I don't love it to death anyways. (Also, no one actually ages over the 8 years between seasons. Lady Sybil is supposed to be 16 in season 1, so by the same logic I could pass for a 20-year-old in the Downtonverse.)I forgive it all, just for the sake of the stunning decor and the delicious evening gowns. I'd kill for just one of Lady Mary's evening gowns.
Yes. Me too. Geoff and I are on episode 5 after starting it a couple of days ago. It's so much fun.I have a dress from the era. I love late Edwardian.
